The thirteenth volume of the first edition of Matoš's collected works brings together dramatic attempts and theater and concert criticism from the period 1897–1909, revealing Matoš as an insightful theater critic.
The collection contains a total of thirty-seven texts created in the period from 1989 to 1993, and thus represents a kind of commentary chronicle of the period of the creation of the Croatian state.
The tenth volume of Matoš's works brings together polemics, epigrams, and satires in which the author sharply comments on his contemporaries, society, literature, and politics, confirming his sharp critical style.
The first edition of this book dates from 1892 (it marked the 400th anniversary of Columbus' discovery of America), and the second was published in 1980. This is the third, linguistically updated edition of Carić's book.
