Branko Bošnjak

The value of Branko Bošnjak's History of Philosophy is demonstrated on a philosophical, scientific, professional, educational, cultural and social level.

Although a quarter of a century has passed since the first edition (1993), Bošnja's History of Philosophy is still an unsurpassed undertaking in the genre of the history of philosophy in our country and in Croatian philosophy in general - its ambition and quality stand out both in the context of previously published histories of philosophy and in the context of philosophical production in recent years. twenty years. Although it is an informative and reliable presentation of the historical development of philosophical thought from the first philosophers to the second half of the 20th century, Branko Bošnjak's History of Philosophy is by no means a dry, factual listing of philosophical names, schools, trends, works, etc. Moreover, as its subtitle suggests, the development thinking in the idea of the whole, it rests on the author's thesis, confirmed in his text, that philosophical thinking (and thinking in general) developed "in the idea of the whole", that is, in the form of the idea of the whole, which is - especially in the time of fragmented and "technoscience" of knowledge - at the same time, highlighting the advantages of philosophy among all other sciences and advocating for the understanding of the world as a whole, i.e. for a complete opinion.
