The novel The Baptist is a story about the events that marked the history of Christianity and the entire Western world! The Baptist is the second part of Raven's biblical trilogy, which he opened with the novel Judith and closed with Pontius Pilate.

The action of the novel takes place at the beginning of the first century AD in the region of Galilee and Judea, and partly also in ancient Rome, in an era of turbulent political and religious turmoil. The main heroes are the young men Elisej and Balaam and the fatal Salome. Their lives, in different ways, will fundamentally change when they meet John the Baptist. In this novel with a rich plot, imbued with strong emotions, passions and ecstasies, Jesus Christ himself appears as one of the minor characters.
