"The book is not intended to cause fear, but is intended as a contribution to the little-understood aspects of abnormal psychology that are in in some cases perverted for the purpose of crime. It is intended for serious students and those who are faced with the described problems, who try to understand them and find a solution. Speaking frankly, my main goal is to open the eyes of men and women to the nature of the forces at work below surfaces of everyday life. It can happen to each of you to break through the thin shell of normality and find yourself face to face with these forces. Reading about the cases presented in the book, we can say, with the grace of God, that anyone can get into such a situation.
