Vječni žid

Vječni žid

Eugene Sue

"Vječni Žid" (francuski: "Le Juif errant") roman je Eugèna Suea, prvi put objavljen 1844. godine.

Radnja se odvija u Europi i prati sudbinu Izraela, neizbrisivog karaktera koji simbolizira patnju i progon Židova kroz povijest. Glavni lik, Mattathias, nosi teret vječne osude i progonstva, putujući kroz različite zemlje i epohe, suočavajući se s predrasudama i zlostavljanjem.

Kroz svoje putovanje, roman istražuje teme identiteta, religije i socijalne pravde, osvetljavajući teškoće s kojima se Židovi suočavaju, ali i njihovu otpornost i sposobnost preživljavanja. Sue koristi ovaj lik kako bi kritizirao društvene nepravde i istaknuo univerzalne ljudske vrijednosti, pozivajući na toleranciju i razumijevanje među narodima. Kroz bogate opise i emotivnu naraciju, "Vječni Žid" ostavlja snažan dojam o važnosti suživota i ljudskih prava.
