Altaj - Himalaji: putopisni dnevnik
Nicholas Roerich's classic mystical travel book from 1929. Roerich was a renaissance man, living in the mid-1900s. A popular and successful artist, he was known for his exuberant use of light and color in his paintings.
Roerich was also a prolific writer, he wrote several books about Tibet, India, Central Asia, China, Mongolia and Siberia. It is probably from Roerich's books that the concept of the mystical Shangri-La became known. There are two museums dedicated to Roerich, one in New York and one in Moscow. Roerich was also a famous archaeologist and explorer. The Altaic Himalaya chronicles his expedition through Xinjiang, Altai-Mongolia and Tibet from 1924 to 1928. Twelve chapters describe incredible adventure and intrigue as his team covers terrain that is still almost unknown today! Roerich's "Travel Diary" style also includes various mysteries and mystical arts of Central Asia, including such arcane subjects as the hidden cities of Shambhala and Agartha.
