Božanstvena komedija: Pakao
Inferno is the first part of Dante's Divine Comedy. In Inferno, he begins his journey with Virgil, who will guide him through all three states of the soul all the way to God himself. This is the second edition of Isa Kršnjavi's translation into Croatian.
Due to its unsurpassed poetic value, everyone has agreed for seven centuries: The Divine Comedy is a divine masterpiece, an inspiring poem of "eternal music" of timeless beauty, and its author Dante Alighieri (1265-1321) is a poetic genius, today an Italian "cultural brand", who created a world of previously unseen powerful images and passionate feelings. The comedy, to which the enthusiastic Boccaccio gave the title Divine, consists of three parts: Hell, Purgatory and Paradise, in which the author describes his imagined journey through the afterlife, from the realization and atonement of guilt to salvation. Descending through the abyss of the nine circles of hell, arranged in order of degree of sinfulness, the poet encounters a selection of souls of famous damned, from mythological and historical to his contemporaries. Dante exposes their flaws and vices, sparing no one, not even the dignitaries of the Church and government, but as a "prophet of hope" he shows generosity and deep understanding for all human weaknesses and shortcomings.
