U traganju za izgubljenim vremenom 3: U sjeni procvalih djevojaka 1 - Okolina gospođe Swann

Marcel Proust

In the Shadow of Blooming Girls, the second novel of the series In Search of Lost Time, was published in 1918 and was awarded the Goncourt Prize in 1919.

In the shadow of flourishing girls, it contains changes in the characters: doctor Cottard has become a respected professor, diplomat Norpois, who has an influence on the protagonist's father, approves of the boy's interest in literature, Gilberte returns and the boy is allowed to visit her, because he befriended her parents and met the writer Bergotte, whom he always admired. However, this does not last long - Gilberte does not return his love and he decides not to visit her anymore. Several years pass and the protagonist stays in Balbec. There he meets Madame de Villeparisis, a cousin of the Guermantes, Robert de Saint-Loup, a young nobleman who soon becomes his friend, Baron Charlus, and several girls, one of whom - Albertine - will become his love.
