Genocid u srednjem Podrinju 1992.-1995.

Velid Šabić

The book Genocide in the Central Podrinje 1992-1995. by Velid Šabić presents a thorough scientific analysis of the crimes committed against the Bosniak population in the middle Podrinje region during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The work focuses on the areas of the municipalities of Bratunac, Zvornik, Vlasenica and Srebrenica, where during the aggression against the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina numerous crimes were committed that have the characteristics of genocide. The author documents in detail mass executions, forced expulsions, systematic rapes, destruction of cultural and religious buildings and other forms of violence against the civilian population.

Across 220 pages, Šabić uses a wide range of sources, including testimonies from survivors, documents from international and domestic institutions, as well as judgments from international courts, to provide a comprehensive account of the events. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the political and military structures that enabled and carried out these crimes, and the role of the international community in preventing and punishing the perpetrators.

The book is a significant contribution to the understanding of the nature and scale of genocide in the central Podrinje, and serves as an important source for researchers, lawyers, historians and anyone interested in the study of war crimes and international humanitarian law.
