Dubravko Ivančan

Dubravko Ivančan (1931–1982) was a Croatian poet, essayist, and translator, known for his works for children and young adults. One of his most famous works is "Jaje harambaša", first published in 1958.

"The Egg of Harambaša" is a humorous and instructive poetic story for children, in which the main character, a brave egg, together with his gang outsmarts wolves and Turks. The work is written in verse and is full of humorous situations, stimulating the imagination and creativity of young readers. The book is richly illustrated, which further contributes to its appeal to children.

This story not only entertains, but also conveys important life lessons about courage, ingenuity and togetherness. Through the characters of the egg and his gang, children learn how to face challenges and overcome obstacles with the help of friendship and resourcefulness.

"The Egg of Harambaša" remains a favorite work in Croatian children's literature, which is still read and recommended to younger generations today.
