Prirodna medicina
Manual on the collection, preservation, preparation and treatment with medicinal herbs. "Natural Medicine" is a comprehensive guide to the collection, preservation, preparation and therapeutic use of medicinal herbs.
Kolić begins with an introductory chapter on the medicinal parts of plants – roots, leaves, flowers, bark, seeds – and their pharmacological properties, explaining in detail the chemical composition and active components responsible for the plants’ effects.
He particularly emphasizes the optimal time of harvest, the importance of their habitat, and instructions on drying and storage in order to preserve their medicinal properties – especially useful for amateur collectors and small growers. The practical part of the manual provides clear and easy-to-use methods: making teas, tinctures, balms, ointments, compresses, syrups, baths, and even medicinal dishes, wines, and oils.
The main part of the book provides descriptions of 135 types of medicinal herbs, along with about 700 recipes for a wide range of health problems – from digestive, respiratory, and skin diseases, to rheumatic, cardiac, and stomach ailments, to male and female specific ailments, children’s illnesses, and conditions such as insomnia.
Furthermore, the manual contains more than 1,500 recipes for treating various diseases, with precise dosages, using natural remedies such as clay compresses, baths, vinegar, cabbage, and other home remedies. Of particular interest are sections on traditional practices such as clay treatment and fasting therapy for certain health problems.
The author emphasizes that these methods are not a substitute for medical therapy, but rather a supplement to it – they are proven recipes passed down through generations, and modern medicine increasingly recognizes their chemical and clinical basis. Kolić encourages the reader to think critically, but also to actively and freely use nature as a “treasure trove of healing remedies” that are available to everyone.
