- Basai-dai ("Breaking the Fortress") is a master kata characterized by powerful blocks, rapid changes of direction, and complex movement patterns. This kata requires strength, stability, and precision, and is often considered the foundation for the development of advanced skills. Its movements symbolize fighting multiple opponents, and its execution requires a high level of concentration and physical fitness.
- Kanku-dai ("Looking into the Sky") is one of the most representative kata of the Shotokan style. It is characterized by a variety of techniques, including high and low stances, strikes, blocks, and jumps, which together create a harmonious and fluid flow of movement. This kata emphasizes balance, coordination, and inner strength, and its complexity makes it challenging even for experienced karatekas.
- Jiyon, named after a Chinese general, is characterized by simplicity, but powerful and precise techniques. Focused on basic movements, this kata emphasizes breath control, inner strength and firm stances, making it ideal for developing the fundamental skills of a karate master.
The authors - Ilija Jorga, the founder of Shotokan karate in Yugoslavia and the holder of a high day, his brother Vladimir Jorga, also a distinguished master, and Petar Đurić - bring their decades of experience to this book. The first volume of this work lays the foundations for further study of master floors, while the second volume further expands the analysis of other important floors. The book is notable not only for its technical instruction, but also for its insight into the philosophy of karate, making it a valuable resource for all martial arts enthusiasts.
