Družina Pere Kvržice

Družina Pere Kvržice

Mato Lovrak

The novel celebrates friendship, togetherness, diligence, and childlike ingenuity, with a clear message about the importance of work and a common goal.

The story centers on Pere Kvržica, a smart and enterprising boy who gathers his friends – the gang – during the summer holidays to restore a neglected village mill. The mill once served the entire village, but was abandoned and neglected by the village authorities due to personal interests. The boys, motivated by justice and a desire to help the community, secretly restore the mill, facing various obstacles – from the mistrust of adults, to conflicts among themselves, and even sabotage by the local naughty boy – Medonja. Ultimately, their efforts are recognized, and the restored mill becomes a symbol of togetherness and responsibility.
