The book is a memoir that deals with the author's experiences and reflections during four key years of World War II, probably from 1941 to 1945, with a focus on events in Croatia, especially in Lika, where Barković comes from. As a writer, journalist and cultural activist, Barković combines personal memories with historical context in this work, providing insight into the war, the fight against fascism and the social conditions of the time.
