Praktičar 1-3
"Practitioner 1-3" is a classic series of practical manuals for students of secondary vocational schools majoring in mechanical engineering, edited by Branko Kovač in collaboration with a group of authors, published in Školska knjiga between 1971 and 1973
This three-part collection is intended for practical training, combining theoretical foundations with practical applications, which made it a standard textbook in the then Yugoslav education system.
The first part, "General Part", lays the foundations for a wide range of technical disciplines. It covers mathematics relevant to engineering, standardization and measurements with markings, technical physics, chemistry, fuels, lubricants and water, technical drawing, and electrical heating and lighting. The aim is to equip students with the fundamental knowledge necessary for work in mechanical engineering, with an emphasis on practical examples and drawings.
The second part, "Mechanical Engineering 1", focuses on materials and their shaping. It describes metals, sintered materials, artificial and non-metals in detail. A special section is dedicated to processing: chip removal, machine tools, plastic processing, casting and joining materials (welding, soldering). Each section includes practical instructions, diagrams and safety precautions, helping students understand the production process.
The third part, "Mechanical Engineering 2", deepens the topics of machine elements and systems. It covers connecting devices, piping and valves, seals and gaskets, clamping mechanisms and their parts. Special emphasis is placed on the analysis of machines, principles of energy conversion and material handling in assembly processes. With over 1500 pages in the third part, the emphasis is on complex mechanisms and optimization, with examples from industry.
In total, the series covers over 4600 pages, offering a comprehensive guide from the basics to advanced applications. Although old, it remains valuable for mechanical engineering enthusiasts due to its practical approach and detailed illustrations.
The book consists of 3 volumes.
