Bud Threadgoode spent his happy childhood in the bustling railroad town of Whistle Stop, growing up with his devout mother Ruth and his eccentric Aunt Idgie. Together, they ran the Whistle Stop Inn, famous for its signature dish – fried green tomatoes. However, when the town’s marshalling yard closed, Whistle Stop became a ghost town, and all that remained of Bud’s childhood were the boarded-up houses and the memory of better times. But one day, Bud decides to take his last journey to see what had happened to his beloved town. Along the way, he meets new friends and discovers many secrets, both about his own life and the lives of his mother and aunt, and the rest of his fellow townspeople. This atmospheric and warm sequel to Fried Green Tomatoes depicts what is special and magical in the everyday lives of ordinary people, speaks of rediscovering youth, takes us back to childhood, and questions what the concept of home means to us and whether it is ever possible to return to it.
