Harry Hole is a police officer with a rather stormy past, both police and personal. His task is to bring back Sverre Olsen, an outspoken neo-Nazi who escaped conviction due to a bureaucratic error.
As Hole tries to contain the neo-Nazis, the story takes the reader between the resentment and revenge of World War II, among Hitler's Norwegian fighters. In order for the two stories to intertwine, Hole must put an end to a diabolical plan that was brewing in the trenches of the Eastern Front. With masterful suspense, the author sheds light not only on Norway's alleged Nazi past, but also on its contemporary neo-Nazi subculture. Jo Nesbø (1960) is currently one of the most widely read and best-selling crime writers with her detective Harry Hole series (which already includes seven sequels). She also writes non-genre literature and books for children. She has already won several awards for best crime novel (including Mother-in-Law), and has also received the prestigious Duncan Lawrie International Dagger Award.
