Vreća kostiju

Stephen King

The novel follows Mike Noonan, a successful writer who, after the death of his wife, suffers from writer's block and nightmares. Four years later, he decides to retreat to their summer home, where he is confronted with supernatural phenomena and secrets f

Mike Noonan, a successful and prolific bestselling author, had everything his millions in royalties could buy him when he suddenly lost the only thing he cared about in life – his beloved wife Jo. After four fruitless and meaningless years, Mike is still in a kind of mourning, playing the same movie in his head and trying to pick up the threads of the life misfortune that befell him. Haunted by terrifying nightmares, obsessed with doubts about his late wife's fidelity, suffocated by the vanity of an uninspired writer, Mike will finally decide to go to the source of his dreams – a summer house on the shores of Dark Score Lake, a house, it seems, overrun by the ghosts of the past.

In an attempt to confront the existence of the supernatural and the impossible, Mike Noonan will first have to unravel a tangle of local mysteries whose solutions go far back in time and are all connected to the house's first owner, Sarah Tidwell, a black singer from the turn of the century. He will also have to come to terms with the guilt he feels over his irresistible attraction to a poor local widow, so young she could be his daughter. In the process, he will become embroiled in a custody battle over her three-year-old daughter, who is being taken away from him by her evil and insane multimillionaire father-in-law.
