Dječak sa zlatnim pantalonama

Roman naglašava kako čak i dobro može imati loše posledice kada se uzme u nesrazmeru, i da su odgovornost, moral i poštenje važniji od samog bogatstva.

Glavni lik romana je dečak, Mats Nilson, koji jednog dana pronalazi nešto neverovatno u svojim starim pantalonama: može da izvadi beskonačnu količinu novca iz džepova. U početku je oduševljen i novac koristi za male želje – igračke, grickalice, sitne poklone. Ali ubrzo počinje da razmišlja o tome kako bi mogao da čini dobro, pa pomaže siromašnima i daje poklone onima kojima je to potrebno. Međutim, nakon početnog oduševljenja, Mats shvata da neograničen novac donosi i neočekivane probleme. Odrasli počinju da postavljaju pitanja, policija istražuje „misteriozni izvor“ novca, a mediji postaju sve sumnjičaviji. Mats se suočava sa pritiskom, strahom i odgovornošću koju nije očekivao. Njegove dobre namere dovode do problema jer ljudi počinju da zloupotrebljavaju velikodušnost koju ne razumeju. Na kraju, Mats shvata da njegova moć nosi previše odgovornosti za dete i pokušava da zaustavi izvor novca i vrati se normalnom životu.
