Fak-ju!: Antologija

A collection of short stories by contemporary authors from Croatia and the ex-YU area. A provocative, ironic, cynical look at the transition of the 90s/2000s: war, nationalism, crime, sex, drugs, rock'n'roll and social decay. "Fuck you" to mainstream and

Fak-ju! : anthology is a key anthology of short fiction from the late 90s and early 2000s, edited by Kruno Lokotar (Croatian critic, editor, promoter of the "fak" scene) and Vladimir Arsenijević (Serbian writer, U potpalublju, Predator).

The title "Fak-ju!" (Fuck you!) is symbolic – the anthology is a rebellion against pathetic, nationalistic, mainstream literature and social norms of the post-war period. It brings together authors from Croatia, Serbia and the region who write raw, cynical, vulgar and humorously about the reality of transition: war traumas, crime, corruption, sex, drugs, rock'n'roll, media manipulation and the loss of illusions.

Writers such as Miljenko Jergović, Igor Mandić, Zoran Ćirić, Ante Tomić, Neven Ušumović, Ivo Brešan, Stanko Andrić, Đerman Senjanović, Petar Luković, and some lesser-known voices of the moment are included. The stories are short, sharp, often darkly humorous or shocking – a typical "fuck-you" style: no tears, no heroism, only bitter reality and irony.

The anthology was an important moment in post-Yugoslav literature – it marked a generation that rejected the official narrative and sought a new language to describe the chaos of the 90s. Critics praised it for its freshness and authenticity, while some condemned it for its cynicism and "nothingness". Today it is a rarity, a symbol of the "fakovo" scene and alternative literature of the region.
