Trči! Ne čekaj me…

Trči! Ne čekaj me…

Bojana Meandžija

Bojana Meandžija wrote her autobiographical novel titled Run! Don't Wait for Me... at the age of sixteen in the damp rooms of a nuclear shelter during the Homeland War in Croatia.

She wrote the first sentences of the novel in the wee hours of the night on the wooden slats of the woodshed while the silence was broken by the detonations of grenades. The writings on the slats, despite the passage of time, still stand today. This is a story about a young person growing up in conditions in which every moment of life is especially precious, but surrounded by the care and love of her parents and the entire family, the girls come to the realization that in this, often cruel world, there are always people who know how to lend a hand when it is most needed.
