Tränen zwischen Himmel und Erde: Mein Weg zurück ins Leben

Tränen zwischen Himmel und Erde: Mein Weg zurück ins Leben

China Keitetsi, Bruni Prasske

The second book of memoirs by Ugandan author China Keitetsi (born 1976), a continuation of the memoirs of a former child soldier about life in Europe, the search for children, and the journey of healing.

After being forcibly recruited into a child army as a nine-year-old girl and spending ten years in war, Keitetsi manages to escape. In this book, she describes her new life in Europe (Denmark), where she is granted asylum. She faces cold, loneliness, culture shock and severe psychological wounds. What hurts her the most is that she had to leave her two children in Africa.

Only when she partially recovers does she find the strength to look for them. Keitetsi tells a sincere and emotional story about her search for hope, love and meaning, and about her commitment to the rights of former child soldiers. She writes vividly and movingly, without pathos, about the difficulties of integration and the strength of the human spirit.

The book is a testimony to survival, motherhood and the possibility of a new beginning. A moving, courageous and inspiring story about a woman who finds her way back to life from the hell of war.
