The main character, Malik, is an enigmatic and extremely capable operative of mixed German-Arab descent. Because of his calculation, unpredictability and deadly efficiency, he gets the nickname "Wolf". His position between two different worlds and cultures makes him the perfect weapon for covert operations in the Middle East and Europe, but also a target for many intelligence services who see him as an indomitable danger.

When a secret mission goes awry, Malik fights for his own survival. As he is pursued by his former employers and rival secret services, he must unravel a web of lies, betrayals and political interests in which human lives are just pawns.

Author George Halban extremely convincingly portrays the atmosphere of the Cold War and the complex geopolitical relations of the Middle East. Through its fast-paced plot, sharp dialogue, and detailed depiction of spy tactics, the novel offers not only thrilling action, but also a deeper insight into the psychology of a man living on the edge of the law, without a permanent home or real allies.
