Sechsundneunzig

Sechsundneunzig

Peter Maffay

The 1996 major studio album by German rock legend Peter Maffay delivers a mature combination of pop-rock and emotional ballads, produced and performed by his long-time backing band.

Released in 1996 for the record company Ariola, the album Sechsundneunzig is another extremely successful studio project by Peter Maffay, one of the longest-serving and most popular performers of the German rock and pop scene. After a series of hits in the eighties and early nineties, Maffay confirms his distinctive musical style with this release, combining solid rock rhythms, authentic blues elements and layered arrangements with recognizable, emotional vocal performances.

The album includes 12 carefully thought-out songs recorded in the Red Rooster studio, among which compositions like "Ich Sag Ja", "Freiheit Die Ich Meine", and the atmospheric "Siehst Du Die Sonne" (which comes on the album in electric and acoustic versions) stand out. The top-notch team of supporting musicians, including guitarist Carl Carlton, drummer and producer Bertram Engel, and keyboardists Jean-Jacques and Pascal Kravetz, whose Hammond organ and harmonica give a special touch to the entire production, also contribute significantly to the sound range.

Sechsundneunzig is an indispensable part of Maffay's discography and must-read for all lovers of quality German pop-rock sound.
