"Agronomists – Participants and Witnesses of the Time 1950 – 2000", edited by Dr. Sc. Zlata Živaković-Kerža (published in 2000 by the Osijek Agronomists' Association), is a comprehensive historiographical and monographic publication dedicated to the half-century-long work of Osijek agronomists and the development of the agricultural profession in eastern Croatia. The book was created as a commemorative commemorative book on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Osijek Agronomists' Association, encompassing one of the most dynamic periods of agricultural modernization in Slavonia and Baranja. In the book, the editor and a group of authors document in detail the historical path and the role of the agronomist profession in the renewal, construction and scientific and technological progress of the regional economy. The work deals with the establishment and work of key higher education and scientific research institutions in Osijek, such as the Faculty of Agriculture and the Agricultural Institute, and analyzes the education of professional staff, the application of agrotechnical innovations and the development of agricultural production. Through a combination of historical overviews, biographical notes, authorial contributions and rich documentary material, the book provides a comprehensive insight into the continuity of work and achievements of generations of agronomists. Written in a professional yet concise style, this monograph represents a valuable source for the history of the Croatian agricultural sector. The work is indispensable literature for agronomists, economic historians, researchers and all those interested in the development of agricultural science and practice in Osijek and Slavonia in the second half of the 20th century.
