A useful book by Jasenka Ćosić and co-authors from 2008. It describes in detail the key pests, disease agents and weeds in crop production and offers effective measures for their control and plant protection.
"The Most Important Pests, Diseases and Weeds in Crop Production" (published in 2008 by the Faculty of Agriculture in Osijek) is a comprehensive professional book and authored by Prof. Dr. Sc. Jasenka Ćosić and her associates, intended for agronomy students, agricultural experts and practitioners in crop production. The book offers a systematic and detailed overview of the most important biotic factors that threaten the yield and quality of crop crops such as wheat, corn, barley, sunflower, soybean and sugar beet. The material is divided into three main sections: phytopathology (plant diseases), entomology (harmful insects and other pests) and herbology (weed species). The author and associates describe in detail the symptoms of infection, the morphology and biology of the causative agents, the conditions in which they develop intensively and the damage they cause. In addition to diagnostics, special attention is paid to modern principles of integrated plant protection — from agrotechnical and preventive measures to the correct, environmentally friendly application of chemical agents (pesticides). Written in a clear, professional and methodologically adapted style, with an abundance of graphic displays and photographs from the field, this book is an indispensable manual for identifying and effectively controlling harmful organisms in agriculture and preserving the health of field crops.
