Teka 2 — tekstovi/kritika
An issue exploring language, literature and ideology, featuring Matvejević, Faye on totalitarian languages, an interview with Sartre, and poetry, drama and literary criticism.
Published in spring 1973, the second issue of Teka brings together literary, theoretical and critical writing concerned with language, creativity and ideology. Contributions by local authors and translations of international thinkers address cultural values, the intellectual’s role and the possibilities of literary expression.
Predrag Matvejević examines concepts and attitudes in literary culture, Taras Kermauner contributes O krugu i o tri toka, and Jean-Pierre Faye is represented by Totalitarni jezici. The issue includes an interview with Jean-Paul Sartre, Bruno Popović’s Jezik kao nemezis, Dubravko Škiljan’s Marginalia linguistica and Darko Suvin’s Psyche, addressing Croatian drama’s break with dilettantism and realism.
Literary contributions include Tonči Petrasov Marović’s Hembra and Dinko Štambak’s Makljenov list ili grčke puti. An extensive review section complements the theoretical essays, covering literature, philosophy, visual art and experimental artistic practices. Authors discussed include Herbert Marcuse, Nikola Milošević, Danilo Kiš and Jean Starobinski.
The issue offers a record of intellectual life in the early 1970s, particularly valuable to readers interested in the relationship between literature, linguistics and social criticism.
