Uzbuna na odjelu za rak

Uzbuna na odjelu za rak

Neven Orhel

A hugely successful medical thriller, translated into Slovak, Czech and Polish. The novel, written in a science fiction style, deals with the current topic of cancer treatment, combining suspenseful plot with medical precision.

The main character, doctor Ana Donovan, is desperately trying to find a cure for her father, who is suffering from a serious form of cancer – sarcoma. When she realizes that conventional medicine offers no solution, Ana explores alternative methods, including radioesthesia and folk medicine, but without success. In parallel, on the other side of the world, an American detective is dealing with the illness of his daughter, who also suffers from cancer. The key turning point occurs when Ana discovers that cancer patients who have also recovered from serious infections such as typhus show unexpected healings. This discovery leads her to develop a new therapeutic formula, which, after a series of dramatic events, saves her father.

The novel is tense, can be read in one sitting, and along with the exciting plot, it also offers educational insight into the functioning of the human body, the development of cancer, typhus and the role of vitamin C. Orhel’s expertise as a doctor contributes to the authenticity of the medical descriptions, while Ana’s emotional fight for her father’s life deeply touches readers. The book is still appreciated today for its topicality and universal theme of the fight against an incurable disease.
