U Zagrebu 1960-ih godina, u vremenu poslijeratne oskudice te preslagivanja odnosa i vrijednosti u društvu, odrasta Sofija Kralj, djevojčica rođena u obitelji u kojoj su se spojila brojna proturječja. Među vršnjakinjama s kojima se druži od vrtićkih dana najzanimljivija joj je Nataša, ali taj odnos daleko je od idiličnog. Ulaskom u pubertet one otkrivaju vlastitu tjelesnost u grupnim igrama za koje znaju da moraju ostati skrivene. Putevi im se, međutim, ubrzo razilaze i Sofija će u vremenu koje dolazi svoje dvojbe morati razrješavati sama.
