Sa kupreške visoravni

Miroslav Džaja, Krunoslav Draganović

The book From the Kupres Plateau by Miroslav Džaja and Krunoslav Draganović depicts the history, life, customs and suffering of the inhabitants of the Kupres Plateau, emphasizing the cultural heritage and identity of that region.

From the Kupres Plateau is one of the most comprehensive monographs dedicated to Kupres and its surroundings. Miroslav Džaja's work provides a systematic overview of the geographical features of the Kupres Plateau, the origin and development of settlements, and the political, social, and economic history of this region from ancient times to the present day.

The central part of the book traces the historical development of Kupres through the medieval period, Ottoman rule, Austro-Hungarian rule, and the period of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, with a special chapter on events during World War II. A significant amount of space is dedicated to church history – the development of Catholic parishes from the early Christian basilica, the work of the Franciscans and apostolic vicars, and the more recent organization of the Kupres parishes, as well as the history of the Serbian Orthodox Church in this area.

Of particular value is the addition of Krunoslav DraganovićSettlements and Migrations in Kupres, which deals with the development of Kupres settlements, migration processes, the emigration of Croatian families after 1940, genealogical surveys of families, and statistical and biographical data on the local clergy. Due to the wealth of archival material, historical sources, and documentation, the book is an indispensable work for studying the history, demography, and cultural heritage of the Kupres region.
