A historical study by Croatian scientist and maritime publicist Juraj Carić, in which the author presents in detail the life, ideas and exploits of the famous navigator Christopher Columbus, as well as the historical context of his voyage in 1492.
The book provides a detailed account of naval conflicts in the Atlantic Ocean during World War II, with particular emphasis on the Battle of the Atlantic Convoy and the activities of German submarines – the so-called "invisible enemy".
The first edition of this book dates from 1892 (it marked the 400th anniversary of Columbus' discovery of America), and the second was published in 1980. This is the third, linguistically updated edition of Carić's book.
The book explores in detail the Spanish conquest of Mexico in the 16th century, with a particular focus on Hernán Cortés and his expedition that led to the fall of the Aztec Empire.
