Today we classify Josip Franja Muecke in the so-called the Osijek painting circle, a group of portrait and landscape artists who worked in Osijek and Slavonia during the 19th century.

The Strossmayer Gallery of Old Masters bears the name of its founder and founder, Bishop Josip Juraj Strossmayer. It is located in the building of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Zagreb.
