Plemena Imotske krajine

Plemena Imotske krajine

Fra Vjeko Vrčić

The work of Fra Vjeka's book is based on old documents found in the Zadar archive. The lists of fugitives from Imotska Krajina, who were gathered in 1686, are stored there. when it moved below Zadvarje and along the river Cetina.

The list was made by an Italian in the Italian language and it was difficult to decipher individual surnames. At the end of 1725. a new land plot was announced for most of the Imot villages. It was worked on in later years as well. It was concluded in 1747. when the bar area of Imotski polje was divided by flags. In that land register, the owner of each family is written down and each piece of land assigned to him is marked. This plot of land is very important for getting to know the population of the "new Imotska krajina".
