Mirko Ćurić

The book of tributes to Bishop Josip Juraj Strossmayer was published on the occasion of the centenary of his death, and the poems in the book were published in the Gazette of the Diocese of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the period from 1874 to 1905.

Bishop Josip Juraj Strossmayer is a famous politician, scientist, cultural patron and philosopher, a person who completely marked the social, political and religious life of Croatia in the second half of the 19th century. The popularity of this bishop, the founder of the then Yugoslav, today Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, is best told by the poems written in his honor and published in this book. Among the authors of the poem are several prominent Croatian writers of the 19th century - Petar Preradović, Ivan Trnski, Grgo Martić and Jovan Hranilović.
