Afera Profumo

Afera Profumo

The Profumo Affair (English: Profumo Affair) is a political scandal from 1963 in Great Britain, named after the former British Defense Minister John Profumo.

The affair arose after Profumo had a brief love affair with stripper Christine Keeler, after which he lied when questioned in the UK Parliament. The scandal forced Profumo to resign, and Harold Macmillan's government fell into disrepute. A few months after the scandal, Macmillan himself resigned. The scandal caused the fall of the government.
