Naročito ljeti

Naročito ljeti

Ankica Tomić

Especially in the summer is a novel in which the reader can take a break from big stories and serious conflicts.

In it, there are no consequences of war, harsh transitional reality, explicit love relationships, grotesque criminals or caricature characters that have filled Croatian prose in the last fifteen years. It is all woven from little things, like a fine lace of memories and authentic images of growing up on the island. Without a unique plot, composed of small stories and anecdotes in which there is almost no classical conflict, it can remind us of a contemporary version of pastoral. But a pastoral in which the reader can fully believe. This is exactly why it can have a healing effect.
