10 boljih godina: Stipe Mesić

Boris Pavelić

Balance sheet of citizen-president Stjepan Mesić

The book 10 Better Years, with the subtitle Balance sheet of the citizen-president Stjepan Mesić, systematically follows all important political events in Croatia during the presidential mandate of Stjepan Mesić and his decisions and activities in these events (2000-2010). The book is systematized in 10 chapters, one chapter for each year of the mandate, a total of 296 pages. and an abundant Appendix with a total of 76 pages. The appendix contains an afterword by the editor Slavko Goldstein, an account of Inoslav Bešker on the foreign policy activities of Stjepan Mesić, an interview of Boris Pavelić with Stjepan Mesić on morality and politics, the 4th key presidential speech by Mesić and a summary of Mesić's advisers and associates. Boris Pavelić wrote the book very fluently and in a temperamental journalistic style, stating equally the main favorable and unfavorable reactions and comments on Mesić's decisions and actions. The author writes sympathetically about the political activity of Stjepan Mesić, but he does not bypass Mesić's omissions and does not suggest definitive conclusions, leaving them to the reader.
