An exciting story about the ambitious journey of young Mei, who will become China's first Empress Wu, the only woman to assume the imperial title. The concubine in the palace quickly realized that there are many ways to attract the emperor's attention. Women paint their faces white and carefully arrange their hair in the hope that their beauty will attract the One above all. They bring him gifts, jade jewelry and calligraphic scrolls, trusting in his seduction skills. Young Mei was not versed in women's arts, but it was she who would give the emperor something he would never forget. The emperor was amazed by her intelligence and curiosity, qualities that made her feel outcast among the concubines. And when Mei was given the opportunity to seduce the most powerful man in China, the rival sides split the palace into two camps, causing a deadly conflict from which Mei barely made it out alive.

The first part of the duology The Shining Empress of the Moon vividly describes ancient China in the 7th century, during the Tang Dynasty, when love, ambition and loyalty could mean life and death. The young woman decided to restore honor to the family name. And determined in that decision, in a court full of intrigues, she did not allow anyone to stand in her way.
