Kurlani, Gornji i Donji

Kurlani, Gornji i Donji

Mirko Božić

The post-war novel, the so-called native prose is the first part of the "Kurlan trilogy" by the Croatian playwright, novelist and novelist.

The action takes place in the mid-thirties of the 20th century in the Cetina region. In two villages at the foot of the Kamesnica mountain and in nearby Sinj. The plot is based on a banal court case initiated by the Lower Kurlans due to the fact that the donkey Sivonja, owned by the Upper Kurlans, damaged the vines in their vineyard. However, that is only the frame in which Christmas depicts the cruelty of life in the Kamešnica quarry. And the rawness of character formed by that wilderness.
