O mamama sve najbolje

O mamama sve najbolje

Sanja Pilić

In the novel O MAMAMA SVE NAJBOLJE, Sanja Pilić creates a special character of an imaginative, at the same time creative and crazy, lovable, but also immature, very unusual young mother, whom we would call in slang "untucked".

The figure of the mother is very often described throughout the history of Croatian children's literature (prose and poetry). However, this sung motif also created certain clichéd, idealized or somewhat typified roles of what a mother figure should look like. The mother is most often depicted as a strict but also gentle role model for children, as a selfless and tireless worker in the family, as an eternal and self-sacrificing sufferer, a tragic and amazing heroine. It is only in recent postmodernist prose that the character acquires conflicting maternal traits, and writers write as if they are taking revenge on the usual mother figure. The situation is different in the novel About mothers all the best. Although the main character of the mother is depicted in a humorous and caricatured way, it is not completely unconvincing because it unadornedly shows the hidden fantasies of adults and their difficulties in always presenting the role of an exemplary educator in front of children.
