Gdje je? ili možda Tko je? dječak koji šume oko poslijeratnog Gdanjska i živote svojih školskih kolego pretvara u pozornicu opasnih igara - u kojima se ogleda sudbina čitavih naroda, ali i svakoga od nas - tek je prvo, početno pitanje koje u ovom izvanrednom romanu postavlja njegov autor. Sva koja dolaze zatim postavit će čitatelj, otkrivajući zauzvrat još jednom da nijedan odgovor nije vredniji od puta koji je vodio do njega.

Roman tematizira odrastanje grupice dječaka u turbulentno postratno vrijeme i još je jedna potvrda kako je djetinjstvo neiscrpan izvor nadahnuća i otponac umjetničkog stvaranja, čijom tematizacijom autori često dosežu svoje stvaralačke vrhunce.
