Crna knjiga komunizma u Hrvatskoj

Crna knjiga komunizma u Hrvatskoj

Josip Jurčević

The book explores the consequences of the communist regime in Croatia, with a special emphasis on repression, human rights violations and political crimes that occurred during Yugoslav socialism.

Jurčević, as a historian and expert in contemporary Croatian history, analyzes numerous documents and testimonies, trying to provide insight into the complex aspects of totalitarian rule. The book deals with questions such as:

  • Political persecutions: persecution of opponents of the regime, intellectuals and dissidents.
  • Crime: such as mass executions, Naked Island and other forms of repression.
  • Censorship and ideological controls: impact on the media, education and culture.
  • Impact on social life: how ideology shaped everyday life and limited freedoms.

This work caused different reactions - from praise for its contribution to the elucidation of unexplored historical topics to criticism for the way the author interprets certain events.
