Georges Gurdjieff

"The Herald of Future Happiness" (also known as "Life is Real Only When 'I Am'") is the work of Georgy Ivanovich Gurdjieff, a Russian philosopher, mystic, and spiritual teacher.

This book, published posthumously in 1974, is the third part of his planned trilogy "Everything and Everything", which also includes "Notes of Beelzebub to His Grandson" and "Meetings with Extraordinary People".

In "The Herald of Future Happiness", Gurdjieff explores the concept of self-awareness and the possibility of awakening from the state of "waking sleep" in which most people spend their lives. The book is structured as a series of lectures and reflections in which the author shares his experiences and insights gained during his spiritual quest.

The key theme of the work is the idea that people live automatically, guided by habits and external influences, without any real awareness of themselves. Gurdjieff proposes that it is possible to achieve a higher level of consciousness through work on oneself, which includes observing one's own thoughts and feelings, and developing an inner presence.

The book also emphasizes the importance of integrating body, mind and emotions in order to achieve the wholeness of being. Gurdjieff introduces the concept of the "fourth way", which combines elements of the fakir, monastic and yogic paths, but adapted to modern man living in the world.

"The Herald of Future Happiness" provides a profound insight into human nature and the possibilities of transformation through conscious work on oneself. Although the book is demanding and requires active reflection, many consider it a valuable guide for those interested in spiritual development and self-knowledge.

Gurdjieff's teachings influenced many spiritual traditions and movements, and his works are still the subject of study and practice in different parts of the world today.
