Kužini s ljubavlju
Following his own enjoyment of local cuisine, the author brings together a series of recipes for everyday and common Dalmatian dishes in the book.
Writing about cooking and feasting on food, Siniša Pavić wrote a book about life and those small joys and sorrows that, they say, life is filled with: about first and last loves, about new and forgotten friendships, about departures that foreshadow a return and returns that carry the germ of departure, about the carefreeness of childhood and the troubles of aging... this is a story about the life of the ordinary world, about a life in which there are no quails in strawberry sauce, cream and chocolate or lobsters in truffles, almonds and forest fruits, but there is the smell of mother's stuffed peppers, there is nostalgia and sentiment, there is the taste of that old Dalmatia that - poisoned by tourist overcrowding - lives quietly in the city alleys and in the rocky Vlach countryside. As far as I'm concerned, there is no palate pleasure that can be compared to the enjoyment of reading Pavić's book, because no recipe for a dish has yet been invented that would take you on such an extensive and beautiful journey through your own memories.
