Statist

Statist

Jadranko Bitenc

STATIST is a story about the failure and futility of the bourgeois existence of an outsider from the journalism-film-literary industry in the status of a student in the jaws of life.

However, the unnamed antihero, a writer of course, since the novel is written in Ich-form, instead of trying to become an omniscient erudite, shows only the symptoms of a mainstream erotomaniac. The social order of public hypocrisy, which he recognizes in the institutions of universities, police stations, marriage, and mass media, can only be endured by persistent work on individual pleasure.
