The book is a collection of essays and literary-spiritual reflections on Croatian and foreign poets who, in their work, expressed deep religiosity, the search for God, and spiritual inspiration.
Pavičić, known as a literary critic, publicist and Catholic intellectual, in this work approaches poets who kneel before the mystery of life, God and suffering with special respect and literary sensitivity – hence the symbolic title "on their knees", which signifies humility, prayer and spiritual longing.
