Tito – lov – politika

Danilo Todorović

The book presents a unique testimony to the role of hunting in the life of Josip Broz Tito, depicting him not only as a passionate hunter, but also as a political strategist who used hunting grounds as places to make key decisions.

The author, a long-time director of the Baranja Hunting and Forestry Farm "Jelen", spent two decades in Tito's company on hunting expeditions, recording a series of events that reveal unknown aspects of Tito's personality and political activities.

Hunting was more than a hobby for Tito; it was a space for diplomatic meetings and political negotiations. Hunting grounds were often meeting places for world statesmen such as Khrushchev, Brezhnev, Ceausescu and Honecker, as well as the Yugoslav political elite, which confirms the importance of hunting in Tito's political agenda.

In the book, Todorović brings not only a memoir, but also an analysis of the relationship between hunting, politics and morality, providing an insight into the way in which political decisions and interpersonal relations within the former Yugoslavia were shaped through hunting. The book is richly illustrated and contains numerous anecdotes, making it a valuable document for understanding the political history of the region.
