Zima za dvoje

Nicholas Sparks

An emotionally powerful love story spanning three life stages – youth, adulthood and old age. Noah Calhoun and Allie are teenagers in love who are separated by life's traumatic circumstances, but whose paths cross again after 14 years.

Noah and Allie have a passionate young love, but differences in social status and family pressure lead to their separation. Although separated, their bond remains alive deep in both their hearts. They meet again in adulthood, when Allie is engaged to another man. But emotions prevail - they remember everything that connected them and decide to stay together again.

The third part of the story takes place in a nursing home where Noah, now eighty years old, visits Allie every day - who suffers from Alzheimer's disease. He reads her stories from his "diary" every day to awaken her memories and remind her of the love they shared. Although Allie is often confused and forgetful, there are moments of light when she remembers, calls him by name and assures him that what they have lasts forever.

Sparks, in an emotional story about loyalty, sacrifice and indestructible love, thematizes strong universal motifs - the destruction of locks from time, the limitations of illness and the ruthlessness of oblivion. Through the most touching scenes of two ordinary old men fighting against life and oblivion, he sends the reader the message that true love never passes, knows no boundaries, and lasts even when memories fade.

The novel is a moving ode to life, love, and transience – a powerful invitation to reflect on the values of loyalty and understanding, especially when time and circumstances disrupt everything we hoped for.
