Peter Cheyney

"The stars are dark" is a spy thriller by the British writer Peter Cheyney, known for fast, tense stories and hard-boiled characters.

The story takes place during World War II, in the shadow of intelligence operations between the British and Nazi secret services. The main character is Shaun O'Mara, a British agent sent on a dangerous mission: to expose and destroy a Nazi spy network operating in France and other parts of occupied Europe. Alongside O'Mara, an important role is played by Toni Born, a beautiful but mysterious woman with dual loyalties, whose intentions are unclear. Her connection to the enemy puts O'Mara in a position where she must choose between feelings and duty. The novel is filled with tension, false identities, double agents, secret messages and cold-blooded murders in the service of politics. O'Mara faces the personal doubts, dangers and moral dilemmas that come with a war in the shadows.
