"Zvezde su tamne" je špijunski triler britanskog pisca Petera Cheyneyja, poznatog po brzim, napetim pričama i tvrdokuhanim likovima.

Radnja se odvija tijekom Drugog svjetskog rata, u sjeni obavještajnih operacija između britanske i nacističke tajne službe. Glavni junak je Shaun O'Mara, britanski agent poslan na opasni zadatak: razotkriti i uništiti nacističku špijunsku mrežu koja djeluje u Francuskoj i drugim dijelovima okupirane Europe. Uz O'Maru, važnu ulogu igra i Toni Born, lijepa, ali misteriozna žena s dvostrukom lojalnošću, čije su namjere nejasne. Njena povezanost s neprijateljem stavlja O'Maru u poziciju gdje mora birati između osjećaja i dužnosti. Roman je ispunjen napetošću, lažnim identitetima, dvostrukim agentima, tajnim porukama i hladnim ubojstvima u službi politike. O'Mara se suočava s osobnom sumnjom, opasnostima i moralnim dilemama koje dolaze s ratom u sjeni.
