Peter Green

The Sword of Pleasure is a romanticized memoir of a historical figure of ancient Rome, the famous Lucius Cornelius Sulla, known as the Happy Sulla.

The author of the novel, through realistic narration, presents a whole series of plots of various circumstances that conditioned the main character to be promoted to the position of dictator of Rome. Sulla lived from 138. to 78. BC and during his lifetime, climbing through rich marriages and military exploits, from an ordinary mortal to consul, dictator and savior of Rome. The novel is easy to read and recommended to readers who like historical themes. It contains a lot of documentary elements, which is understandable considering the memoir basis.
